Down in the Delta, it’s looking good for EHR users – especially if they intend to qualify for tens of thousands of dollars in Meaningful Use incentive money. The Mississippi Division of Medicaid’s new online registry will give these providers a streamlined way to apply for their EHR incentive funds.

Just as important, the system gives the state a simplified tool to assure true meaningful use of electronic health records. Once in place, the registry will allow Mississippi to “track and confirm qualified applicants, verify their use of certified EHRs and reduce fraud by making sure that providers meet the threshold for incentive payments,” according to the GovHealthIT.com article announcing the new initiative.

Because the registry also coordinates with Medicaid Meaningful Use incentives at the federal level, the state can avoid risk of making duplicate payments, too.
